Shortly after purchasing our first home in 2017, we realized paying a contractor to update our home was out of the question. We didn’t have a large renovation budget, but we did have friends that were willing to help us get started with a few small home improvements.
My husband always wanted a home bar and this was the first thing he wanted to work on when we moved into our new home. I rolled my eyes at the idea because I didn’t see the need for a mancave type of bar.
After some thought I decided to let him build the bar in the basement, especially because I already took over the design process for the rest of the home.
While he was busy building the man cave of his dreams, I was painting the entire house top to bottom. I assumed my husband was going to build a lame man cave with room for 2 bar stools, but boy was I wrong!
He ended up building a massive bar frame in a matter of an hour that had room for 7-8 bar stools. The bar took him a few weekends to complete because he couldn’t find solid instructions, so he created his own set of bar plans.
Little did we know, these DIY Bar Plans would later turn into Rock Solid Rustic. Our basement bar motivated us to start sharing other home projects and ways to live a simpler life to help readers like you!
Of course we make mistakes along the way but that’s why we started this blog – to show you exactly how to do these projects that you can enjoy, save money, and possibly increase the value of your home.
If you wait for the perfect opportunity to start, you’ll never start. And I always say, “the best way to learn is to just do it”, so it’s time to stop putting off that home project.
It’s time to start building a bar, refinishing that furniture, and refacing that fireplace like you always wanted!
